Anoushka Shankar Anoushka Shankar, an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is well known for her songs. She was the youngest and the first woman to be awarded a British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live and to serve as a presenter at the ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is a rising star on sitar music. Indian sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. Her debut concert was in New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. After that, she moved into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Although she is still very young Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording career. She has been performing with her father on stage for several years. Her debut solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. It was followed by the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album two years after. Her career on stage is extensive for she has performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka isn't only a singer. Bapi The of My Life of My Live is her 2002 book, which is a tribute to Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a movie in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka's career is still developing and she'll continue to accomplish many amazing things in the near future. Anoushka Shankar is a British born musician who spent her early days between London, Delhi and California. In Delhi on his birthday, which was celebrated at the age of 75, Anoushka made her debut performing the sitar in front of the audience four years following her nine-year-old father. As a part of her dad's band as they toured around the globe, Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experiences appearing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens. She performed at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording together with George Harrison. She was the only female winner of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as a preeminent musician of the Asian Arts.
